The makers of the upcoming Tamil film Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku have released the first look poster, introducing audiences to the intense dramatic tone of this eagerly anticipated project. The striking visual features lead actor Vetri alongside senior journalist-actor Rangaraj Pandey, both striking powerful poses against a stark jail backdrop littered with newspaper clippings, immediately conveying a sense of tension and unease.
Directed by Dayal Padmanabhan and produced jointly by KV Shabarreesh’s 2m Cinemas and D Pictures, the film is said to revisit one of the most sensational and debated murder cases in Tamil history: the killing of journalist Lakshmikanthan and the alleged involvement of legendary actor MK Thyagaraja Bhagavathar. The narrative promises to delve deep into the complexities and controversies surrounding the real-life incident, blending factual inspiration with cinematic storytelling.
Joining Vetri and Rangaraj Pandey in pivotal roles are Brigida, Saravanan, Lizzie Antony, Lollu Sabha Maran, Ilavarasu, and Kavitha Bharathi, with popular political activist and speaker Suba Veerapandian also part of the ensemble.
The first look poster has already sparked interest, reflecting the film’s dramatic core and thematic focus on crime, justice, and media. On the technical side, the production is supported by MV Panneerselvam as cinematographer, Darbuka Siva handling music, and Anbu leading production design. While Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku is currently in production, the makers are yet to confirm a release date.
With its compelling real life premise and strong cast, the film is shaping up to be a significant entry in Tamil cinema’s crime-drama genre.
