With Akhanda 2 gearing up for a grand release this Friday, December 5, the team held an energetic pre-release press meet in Chennai, drawing expectations for what is positioned as a pan-Indian spiritual action entertainer. The event saw the presence of the film’s cast and crew, each sharing insights into the making and vision of the sequel.

Veteran actor YG Mahendran expressed awe at the massive celebrations held recently in Hyderabad, calling the pre-release event “as big as the film itself.” Speaking about his role as a Tibetan monk, he described Akhanda 2 as a film that captures India’s rich cultural fabric. He shared a memorable anecdote about longing to act alongside the legendary NTR, only to find that fate had instead brought him to share the screen with Nandamuri Balakrishna as Shiva. Calling the experience surreal, he recalled the extreme conditions during the Georgia shoot, where Balakrishna performed intense climax sequences shirtless in sub-zero temperatures, describing it as “Lord Shiva himself entering him.”

Actress Viji Chandrasekhar highlighted Balakrishna’s discipline and patience throughout the shoot. She noted that beyond commercial elements, Akhanda 2 carries strong emotional and spiritual layers. She urged director Boyapati Sreenu to one day bring Balakrishna and Rajinikanth together in a film, and even expressed hopes for an Akhanda 3 featuring both icons.

Director Boyapati Sreenu described Akhanda 2 as a truly pan-Indian project rooted in the themes of Desam, Deivam, and Dharmam. He praised cinematographer Wilson for his commitment and mentioned that the first film was already beyond regional boundaries – this sequel, he said, aims to embody the “soul of India.”

Balakrishna charmed the gathering by calling Chennai his “Janmabhoomi,” expressing gratitude for the support from Tamil Nadu. He revealed that the film was completed in just 130 days despite multiple international schedules, attributing this achievement to divine grace. He described Akhanda 2 as an “encyclopedia of Sanatan Dharma,” a film that will impart moral values and spiritual clarity to future generations. He credited his father, the legendary NT Rama Rao, as his guiding light.

The trailer reinforces Boyapati Sreenu’s signature style: high-voltage action, grand spiritual undertones, and a powerful portrayal of divine fury through Balakrishna’s character. Elements of mythology, intense confrontations, ritualistic visuals, and the continuation of the Akhanda persona hint at a sequel that aims to be bigger, more dramatic, and more emotionally charged than the original.

With strong anticipation across states, Akhanda 2 is positioned as a spiritually driven action extravaganza set to attract both mass and family audiences when it releases on December 5th.
